The dodo's journey
The dodo was a large bird known for there meat and feathers.They were all hunted over time.the dodo weighed up to 13-23 kg.This bird comes from the same family as the pigeon,but luckily for them there still alive at this moment in time.
The dodo was first found in the islands of Mauritius.Then hunters found a couple of them lingering around east Madagascar,and the Indian ocean.They weren't found in any other places other than these.
Did you know that the extinct bird the dodo is in the same family as the still living pigeon?before humans evolved this bird wasn't hunted by any other animal or living thing.the wallow bird was once another name for the dodo when they were first discovered.This bird could only lay 1 egg at a time.
The dodo went extinct when the dutch hunted them for their meat so they could eat at night.They also were hunted for their feathers to stuff pillows and blankets.
This fascinating bird lived off of seeds,nuts and roots.some people think they ate crayfish and crabs to but because this was so long ago scientist are not sure on that.
This concludes my summery of the dodo.As you can tell this is an very interesting bird.I hope this gave you everything you need to know,and helped you out in any way possible.
